Resources for research into both prootype and model railroad topics abound on the internet. Rather than turn this page into a massive links page, I will focus on some key resources that I have found helpful to me for my layout or that are particularly relevant to the railroads present on my layout.
Prototype Photo Resources
One of the most helpful types of information to me has been the ability to find period relevant photos online of the locations and equipment in use in the areas represented on my layout. Here are the sites I have found particularly useful for period railroad photos.
- RR Picture Archives – I have found a wealth of useful photos at this, my favorite go-to site for photos relevant to my layout.
- RailPictures.Net – While not as numerous in photos relevant to my railroad, this resource also has a very large and useful holding.
- NERAIL Railroad Photos – Resource focused exclusively on the New England area.
- Fallen Flags and Other Railroad Photos – Useful sites for photos of railroads no longr in operation.
